Toronto Church of SDA Reform Movement was a place to be Sunday evening, March 27, 2022. The Youth Orchestra and the Choir made that evening one of the most memorable music events not only for the members of our church but also for about 25-30 guests, many of whom for the first time stepped on our church premises.
The aim of the Spring Concert was to lift the thoughts and feelings of the listening audience on the wings of music and to transport them from the gloom of a worldwide pestilence and a devastating war to the realm of a divine joy and peace. With the hearts filled with gratitude to God, we testify that this lofty goal was attained, even beyond our expectations.
The almost two-hour concert, which was felt as lasting just half of that time, was divided in two parts. In the first part were presented the compositions from both religious and classical music repertoire. They were performed by the children choir, solo and group vocalists, solo instruments accompanied by piano, and by string quartet and brass quintet.
In the second part appeared the Youth Orchestra with a beautiful selection of favorite church hymns, to be followed by the full choir accompanied by the orchestra. The choir’s voices, blended with the sound of the orchestra, gave a mighty expression to the lyrics dedicated to the power of the cross and the great love of our heavenly Father as revealed in the suffering of His Son, the Lamb of God.
We thank God for the dedicated work of all young and adult instrumentalists and vocalists from Toronto and Puslinch local churches. Special thanks go to the sisters, Bianca and Marta Sirbu, for preparing and leading the Youth Orchestra, and to Sr. Kaitlin Hanuska for leading the Choir.
After the concert, our church ladies have offered a wonderful reception with a broad selection of healthy and tasty foods. The fellowship time afforded us an opportunity to get to know many of our visitors and to share with them the good news of God’s love. We thank God for helping our youth minister to the community with their musical talents and for opening our eyes to the great potential that music can have in reaching those who yet need to be saved.
The next concert in Toronto will be dedicated to a charitable purpose and it will be given, God willing, in December of 2022.
